Ally for eLC is an accessibility tool that automatically generates alternative file formats for users and provides information for instructors to help improve content accessibility. It scans course files to flag accessibility issues and offers remediation guidance. It creates up to eight alternative formats, provides accessibility indicators for instructors, and helps improve content accessibility.

How to Use this Tool in eLC

Ally is already installed for all users in eLC, and interacts with the Content section of your course.

  • For Instructors: An Ally icon will appear above most items in your Content section. It is typically green, yellow, or red, indicating the degree of accessibility issues in a specific item. Clicking on that icon will open up a screen with more details about the accessibility score for the item.
  • Homepage Widget: You can also view the Course Accessibility Report from the Ally for eLC (Instructor) widget on your course homepage (if you don’t see it there, you can add it yourself!).
  • Students: Students can access alternative formats (such as audio, HTML, or tagged PDFs) by clicking the Alternative Formats icon that appears next to supported items in the Content tool in eLC.

Virtual Classrooms by Bongo integration to create a virtual classroom session or set up video meetings with learners. You can choose to save your sessions and post them within Brightspace as a resource. You can also use Video Assignments to create video assignments, allowing learners to respond to course materials, or do presentations remotely.

How to use this Tool in eLC

I. To add to your Content Modules:

  1. Go to a module in the Content section of your course.
  2. New Content Experience: Select Add Existing then …More.
    Classic Content Experience: Select Existing Activities.
  3. Select either Video Assignments QL or Virtual Classroom QL.
  4. Follow the instructions in the pop-up to make your selections.

The selected item will appear in your content module.

How to Use this Tool in eLC

  1. Go to a module in the Content section of your course.
  2. New Content Experience: Select Add Existing then …More.
    Classic Content Experience: Select Existing Activities.
  3. Select VHL Quicklink from the list.

Log in and VHL Quicklink will be added to your module.

Integration of Vocareum and eLC has limited user access. This integration is intended to be used only by courses with a purchased license to the program with specific roles and needs inside their unit.

Overview

VoiceThread is a web-based tool that lets users create multimedia slideshows and engage in asynchronous discussions using audio, video and text comments. It allows instructors and students to upload and arrange images, videos, documents and presentations into slides and then comment on them through voice, video or text. It facilitates collaborative storytelling and discussion, supports annotation, and helps build community in online or blended courses.

How to Use this Tool in eLC

Integration of Voice Thread and eLC has limited user access. This integration is intended to be used only by courses with a purchased license to the program with specific roles and needs inside their unit.

This tool is only available by departmental or unit license. Interested departments must reach out to VoiceThread directly for more information, cost, and availability.

In the Content tool of your eLC (Brightspace) course, select Add Existing Activities (or Add Existing in New Content Experience) and choose External Tool Activity. Select Waymaker Launch from the list to connect it to your eLC course.

How to use this Tool in eLC

Once integrated, Edfinity can be connected to a course in eLC by following the instructions for Connecting to an Edfinity Course from Brightspace.

Peer Doc & Peer Poll (Rampant Strategy +

Overview

PeerDoc and PeerPoll are bundled tools from Rampant Strategy that support peer review, group member evaluations, student reflection, and classroom polling. PeerDoc provides a structured space for students to submit work, review peer submissions, complete group member evaluations, and reflect on their assignment effort. PeerPoll supports real-time polling and participation activities that can be used to encourage engagement during class.

How to Use this Tool in eLC

In the Content tool of your eLC (Brightspace) course, select Add Existing Activities (or Add Existing in New Content Experience). Select either PeerDoc Launch or PeerPoll Launch from the list to connect it to your eLC course.

Course setup may require coordination with Rampant Strategy, including section creation, student access, and roster or enrollment setup. Students may receive registration or access instructions from Rampant Strategy once the course section has been configured.
